Courses Taught
Joan McGettigan is Associate Professor of Radio-TV-Film at TCU. She teaches courses in film history, especially the history of Hollywood. She participates in TCU’s summer Study Abroad program, taking students for four-week study sessions to London each year. She is also the coordinator of the RTVF Department's Film Library, which currently holds more than 15,000 film and television programs. Dr. McGettigan programs and hosts the Radio-TV-Film Thursday Night Movies series, a free event which runs each Fall and Spring semester.
Dr. McGettigan is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and her recent research has been focused on the history of movies in that city, especially about the effects of the Great Depression on the movie business.
She earned her PhD at Penn State University, and has been on the faculty at TCU since 1997.
