David Whillock received his Ph. D. from the University of Missouri in 1986 and came to TCU in 1991. He served as Interim Dean of the College of Communication from 1999 to 2002 and as the Department Chair from 1995-1999. He is the author of the dual degree program offered by the College of Communication at TCU in conjunction with the Communication science degree at the University of the Americas in Puebla, Mexico.

 

Dr. Whillock teaches courses in Film History, National Cinemas, American Cinema, and Film Theory and Criticism. He also teaches British Cinema and European Culture as part of the TCU in London program taught during five-weeks in the summer. His course, American Culture in Cinema, is part of TCU’s Freshman Seminar series.

 

Dr. Whillock’s research projects include several articles and book chapters focusing on the American Vietnam War Film and how history is interpreted through cinema. He is presently working on a co-authored book length project that focuses on the role of British propaganda on the American public before 1941.
